Why Forget AirPods on Mac?

If you’ve updated AirPods or Mac, you may find difficulty in connecting them to other devices. You will also notice that AirPods keep disconnecting even after they are paired to the iPhone. By unpairing and then pairing AirPods, you can establish a fresh connection to Mac.

After unpairing from Mac, pair your AirPods again by going to System Preferences and clicking Bluetooth. Select AirPods and click Connect. If it doesn’t work, you may require forgetting them from other paired devices.

  • Forget AirPods as Bluetooth Device

Forgetting AirPods as Bluetooth devices on Mac can delete all of the saved data regarding the device connectivity. Hence, while reconnecting the device, you’ll feel as if you’re connecting devices for the first time.

Tap the Apple logo and open System Preferences on Mac. Now, click on Bluetooth and tap once on AirPods under Devices. Tap the circular “x” button and click Remove when you get the confirmation alert. Now, reconnect your AirPods.

  • Forget/Reset AirPods on Mac

To reset your AirPods on your Mac, put your AirPods in their case. Close the lid and wait for approx. 30 seconds. After that, open the lid. Now, move to Settings on your iOS device. Click Bluetooth and tap the circled ‘I’ icon.

Click Forget This Device and click again for confirmation. With the AirPods case lid open, tap and hold the button on the case back for 15 seconds. With the case lid open, put AirPods close to your device and follow the steps instructed.

  • Unpair AirPods From Mac

AirPods Not Connecting to Mac

Apple’s AirPods are true wireless earphones designed to seamlessly and effortlessly connect to your Bluetooth-compatible device. The integrated microphone provides an ease to use to make voice or video calls.

Even the most recent additions come with excellent features such as spatial audio, noise cancellation, and more. But, there are instances when AirPods can’t connect with Mac. The following are some fixes to solve this issue.

You’ll need to reset or remove and re-adding your AirPods to fix the problem. The solution to how to forget AirPods on Mac or how to unpair them are already discussed above. So, simply follow the steps properly.

Your AirPods will automatically connect to your Mac when you set them. Ensure your device must be signed in to the same Apple ID as used on other devices. If you don’t use the same ID, they will not connect automatically.

  • Check macOS Version

Have you ever connected AirPods to your Mac or other iOS devices before? Be sure your device fulfills the minimum system requirements. Your AirPods will not connect if you are not using the latest version of macOS.

So, try updating the macOS. Tap on the Apple menu and select About This Mac. Then, click on the Software Update option. If you find any pending or new updates available, follow the instructions given on the screen.

  • Enable Bluetooth on Mac

When connecting AirPods to Mac, ensure that the BlueTooth is turned ON. So, enable Bluetooth settings. In the menu bar, tap on the Control Center icon. Make sure the Bluetooth icon should be blue. It will show that Bluetooth is turned ON.

If it is not blue, click on Bluetooth to switch it ON. If it is enabled, try switching it off and on again. You will see your AirPods given under the toggle switch. Ensure AirPods must be in Bluetooth pairing mode.

The Conclusion
